Cold Front Blues
A$AP Rocky // Ridin’ [Feat. Lana Del Rey]
After the premier of the “National Anthem” music video, there’s more new material from A$AP and Lana with the leak of the full version of their “Ridin’” collaboration.
Originally meant for the Kickdrum’s “Follow The Leader” mixtape, the preview of the track got such a positive response that the label stepped in and saved it for A$AP’s debut album. Now that I’ve heard the song, it’s no wonder that they made that sly move.
With a quick drum pattern, bouncy horns and a catchy flute riff, this is the perfect laid back summer jam. It takes me back to the mid-2000s when the likes of “Overnight Celebrity”, “Hate It Or Love It” and “Say I” were all over the airwaves. That kind of laid back, breezy Hip-Hop has always pressed all my right buttons; “Ridin’” definitely isn’t an exception.
Lana’s husky voice works so well against a Hip-Hop beat, and is a nice contrast to A$AP’s pitch altering verses. The verses are very good as well, so all in all this is a pretty brilliant single. My anticipation for “LONGLIVEA$AP” dropping on September 11 has just increased by about 110%.

The House That Heaven Built
This is a drive-fast-feel-good-barn-burner song. I loves it and so can you.
Shovels and Rope
The Ballad of Shovels and Rope (maybe also called Birmingham?)
This is some awesomeness right here. This is getting played this summer, repeatedly.
Levon Helm, drummer and singer of The Band, passed away from throat cancer last week. The outpouring of love directed his way over the last week, from every corner of the world, was remarkable. His family did an interesting thing too; they told the world before he died that he was in his final…
Fun time music time.
